Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Director to oversee multiple software development projects and engineering teams. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader with hands-on development experience, proven system design expertise, and the ability to coach engineers toward high performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the success of 5–10 client projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and at high quality standards.
- Guide the technical architecture of projects and ensure engineering teams build the right solutions the right way.
- Manage and mentor a team of 10–20 engineers across different client projects, addressing performance gaps and promoting growth.
- Report on project health and engineering performance to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations.
Must-Have Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 2+ years in engineering leadership roles with direct people management.
- Deep understanding of modern software engineering best practices and system architecture.
- Ability to architect modular, testable, scalable, and secure systems.
- Proficiency in React and React Native.
- Familiarity with Python for backend development.
- Comfort using Generative AI tools to boost engineering productivity.
- Strong mentorship, client communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Prior startup experience and ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience building features on top of LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI/ChatGPT).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to product and design thinking.
