Director of Fiber Engineering

The Director of Fiber Engineering is accountable for overseeing local Telecom business development and operational activities necessary to achieve STV’s desired strategic and annual outcomes for the area. These outcomes include targets and objectives for client relations, growth, project performance, efficiency, and talent development. In addition to the above accountabilities, the Director of Fiber Engineering is responsible for:

Responsibilities

  • Providing effective management of STV’s local business activities including selection of STV’s client mix and services offering, adding new clients, winning new work, execution of projects, hiring locally based personnel, resource planning and controlling overhead expenditure.
  • Representing STV with clients, the industry and the broader community across the Area.
  • Providing industry knowledge for creating and implementing plans that align with and achieve STV’s strategic plan objectives.
  • Maintaining close professional relationships with key people at client, teaming partner, industry and community organizations.
  • Acquire and maintain key vendor relationships aimed at providing turn-key services for STV Telecom clients.
  • Identifying, recruiting, and developing talent with the aim of growing the business and assuring a strong line of succession for key leadership roles in the local operation.
  • Analyzing and understanding of client, business and industry issues that potentially affect STV’s business in the Area and for advising and implementing plans to position STV to capitalize on those trends.
  • Identifying, mentoring and training the next generation of future leaders to include the cross-training of current STV staff.
  • Assessing performance of the STV team members and taking action to rectify any shortfalls against expectations and to recognize and promote those of exceptional ability.
  • Establish standard operating procedures, permitting, and design templates designed to aid in STV’s growth in the Telecom market.
  • Being the subject matter expert on outside plant (OSP) services including design, permitting, and construction activities.
  • Oversee local business performance and implementing timely measures to address adverse outcomes to assure financial goals are achieved.
  • Assuring the operation adheres to STV’s policies and procedures.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the Telecom market sector in roles such as business development, operations management, project or engineering management.

  • Establishing and managing an efficient business: service revenue $ / total payroll $.
  • Exercising good commercial judgement and practices: DSO & overhead rate.

  • Exhibit the highest standards of leadership and collaboration: 360-degree reviews.
  • Represent STV in the community: personal involvement and leadership in relevant organizations.
  • Build an enduring operation: voluntary turnover & succession planning.
  • Assure provision of high-quality services: quality audits, repeat business, client feedback surveys.

Compensation Range

$140,810.99 - $187,747.98
