POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Engineering & Quality is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction of engineering, and quality functions across the organization. Reporting to the General Manager, this position drives long-term operational excellence, product quality, regulatory compliance, and innovation aligned with business objectives.

This role provides leadership across cross-functional teams, ensuring scalable manufacturing processes, robust quality systems, and sustainable environmental practices. The Director is accountable for building organizational capability, developing leadership talent, and implementing forward-looking technologies that enhance competitiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and execute the long-term engineering, and quality strategy that is aligned with business growth objectives
  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team across engineering and quality functions
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy and decision-making
  • Lead enterprise-wide continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and throughput
  • Establish scalable manufacturing processes, engineering best practices, and adoption of advanced technologies to enhance operational performance
  • Own and evolve the Quality Management System (QMS), fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and proactive issue resolution
  • Provide executive oversight of customer quality to drive customer satisfaction, retention, and manufacturable product design
  • Develop and manage long-term capital investment strategy, including prioritization, ROI analysis, and execution oversight
  • Align engineering resources and capabilities with future product and market needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including leading managers and cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence and business growth
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to make data-driven decisions balancing cost, risk, and performance outcomes
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading complex problem-solving efforts and driving sustainable, systemic solutions
  • Deep understanding of regulatory, quality, and compliance frameworks within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading organizational change, continuous improvement, and capability development initiatives
  • Demonstrated commitment to talent development and building high-performing teams

PREFERRED SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in engineering to design and manufacture of IC Engines and Powertrain products.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Remanufacturing experience
  • Cross trained in Production, Operations, and Quality

Work Environment: Work is performed mostly in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

Physical Demands: Standing 20%, sitting, 60%, walking 20%. This position requires occasional physical effort including lifting, pushing and pulling material weighing up to 20 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk and hear.
