DISH Business is a high-growth vertical within EchoStar, dedicated to delivering world-class entertainment and technology solutions to the B2B and Enterprise sectors. Our flagship product, OnStream, is the premier video streaming platform for hotels, senior living, and multi-dwelling units. We are a product-led, customer-first organization that combines the agility of a growth-stage tech firm with the stability and resources of a Fortune 250 leader.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee a comprehensive technical organization—Frontend, Backend, DevOps, and Quality Assurance—specifically tasked with the evolution of OnStream. You will act as a bridge between technical execution and business strategy, working hand-in-hand with our Product team to translate customer needs into scalable, high-performance reality. You will lead a world-class modern engineering organization with an AI-first approach as we take DISH’s PayTV business to new heights.
- Product-Led Partnership: Work in lockstep with the Product organization to align technical roadmaps with business objectives. As a customer-first leader, you ensure that engineering decisions always prioritize the end-user experience.
- Global Team Orchestration: Lead, mentor, and scale multi-disciplinary engineering teams across the US and India. You are responsible for maintaining a cohesive culture and high velocity across multiple time zones.
- Hands-on Leadership: We value leaders who lead from the front. You have the technical "grit" to jump into the trenches, perform code reviews, or assist in troubleshooting when the workload peaks or complex roadblocks arise.
- Full-Stack Stewardship: Own the technical lifecycle of the OnStream platform, focusing on Android (Mobile/TV), React, and Browser-based interfaces, supported by a robust backend and AI driven SW Development Life Cycle.
- AI-first Approach: Lead the strategic integration of AI and automated workflows across the engineering department to modernize legacy processes and maximize organizational output.
- Quality & Reliability: Drive a rigorous Quality Assurance strategy. You will ensure that our enterprise-grade software meets the high uptime and stability requirements of our B2B partners.
- Communication Excellence: Serve as the primary technical voice for DISH Business. You must possess elite written and verbal communication skills to present complex technical updates to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Skills, Experience And Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a senior managerial-level role overseeing global development teams (specifically US and India-based offshore models).
- Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency in React/Redux, Android (Kotlin/Java), and modern Cloud-Native Backend architectures. Solid understanding of modern engineering processes and challenges. Evidence of innovative initiatives for integrating AI into the development process.
- Enterprise Mindset: Experience building or managing B2B/Enterprise SaaS or video streaming products (experience with IPTV or hospitality tech is a major plus).
- QA & Ops Integration: Proven ability to integrate automated QA and DevOps practices into the development flow to ensure seamless enterprise deployments.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate technical strategy and project health to the Product-led business unit and Leadership.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
