Description

The Engineering Manager leads the development and design sustainability of equipment, software development and integration. This role is both hands-on and managerial, responsible for delivering reliable, manufacturable, and supportable products. The ideal candidate has strong multipipeline practical understanding of software, electrical and/or mechanical systems used in manufactured equipment.

Software & Systems Engineering

  • Own the architecture, development, and maintenance of software, firmware, and/or application software used in equipment.
  • Define software requirements, interfaces, and system behavior in collaboration with hardware teams.
  • Lead development of control systems, automation logic, data acquisition, diagnostics, and user interfaces.
  • Improve and establish software development best practices appropriate for a small team (version control, code reviews, testing, releases).
  • Oversee integration of software with sensors, actuators, motors, PLCs, HMIs, and communication interfaces.
  • Drive debugging and root-cause analysis across software, electrical, and mechanical boundaries.

Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

  • Lead or review electrical system design (power, controls, wiring, I/O, safety circuits)
  • Lead or review Mechanical system design (power, controls, wiring, I/O, safety circuits)
  • Ensure hardware designs support robust software integration and system-level performance.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are buildable, testable, and serviceable.
  • Support component selection, supplier interaction, and cost optimization.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small cross-disciplinary engineering team (software, electrical, mechanical).
  • Balance hands-on technical work with task prioritization and team coordination.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support hiring as the company grows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong professional experience in software development, preferably for industrial equipment, embedded systems, or automation.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in equipment, machinery, robotics, or industrial systems.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating software with electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Prior experience leading projects or small engineering teams.
  • Hands-On experience with embedded systems, real-time systems, PLCs, or industrial control software.

This is a Permanent position based out of Kingston, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $175000.00/yr.

Medical, Dental and Vision employee offerings, paid time off including holidays, vacation time and sick time. Bonus opportunity, TBD.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Kingston, NY.
