Director of Manufacturing Operations (Custom Equipment Production) Description
Our client, a long-established and highly profitable custom equipment manufacturer, is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations to take full ownership of how complex, engineered-to-order products are built and delivered. This is a true step-up opportunity for a seasoned General Manager or Director of Manufacturing/Operations who wants broader authority, deeper influence, and a seat at the leadership table. You will lead a deeply tenured, highly skilled organization responsible for designing, fabricating, assembling, and delivering custom mechanical equipment. With six direct reports spanning Production, Project Management, Purchasing, and Control Panels, this role owns end-to-end operational execution — from order handoff through final delivery. While this is a senior leadership role, it is not removed from the floor. The right leader is visible, decisive, and respected — someone who balances strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving, earns trust through action, and continuously raises the bar on how the business operates. This is a rare opportunity to join a 100+ year-old company with exceptional financial stability, extremely low turnover, and a culture where leadership impact is real and lasting.

- Manage budgets, material spending, labor planning, and cost controls
- Hire, train, and develop supervisors and shop-floor leaders
- Review production and technical outcomes to continuously improve performance
