We are seeking a Director of Engineering, Smart Home, to lead our flagship smart home product lines.
This role manages software engineering teams including Embedded Software Applications, Embedded Software Platform, and Algorithms, and a hardware team. Responsibilities include supporting definition, development, technical review, and acceptance of wide-range smart camera products, while introducing and developing new technologies to enhance overall product competitiveness. This role will act as the engineering owner of the entire project lifecycle. You will coordinate with manufacturing, cloud, mobile and offshore teams to deliver high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the smart home engineering Department: Drive feature development, ensure quality and safety, and foster innovation for wide-range smart home products.
- Own end-to-end product delivery: Act as the Research and Development project lead, coordinating cross-functional efforts across software, algorithms, hardware, production, cloud services, and mobile applications.
- Shape product direction: Partner with Product Management to translate customer needs into feasible solutions, from early research to production launch.
- Drive new technology adoption: Lead the strategy and execution for identifying, evaluating, and integrating new technologies and algorithms to enhance product competitiveness.
- Coordinate global collaboration: Align international R&D resources, bridge cultural gaps, and enable seamless teamwork.
- Build and grow teams: Recruit, mentor, and inspire top talent while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software/hardware engineering, including 5+ years in an engineering leadership role.
- Strong technical background in embedded systems, software, and algorithms, with the ability to represent engineering across hardware, cloud, and mobile domains. Experience with imaging algorithms or camera systems is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of end-to-end product ownership, from architecture and development through manufacturing and market launch. Experience delivering consumer electronics or smart home products from concept through mass production is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and leading large-scale, cross-functional projects.
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and modern engineering practices.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and executive stakeholders, with experience driving collaboration and alignment across Product Management, manufacturing, and global R&D teams as a strong plus.
- Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $180,000-$250,000
