About The Role

Hims & Hers is hiring a Director of Engineering to build, scale, and lead one of the core pillars of our Poland engineering organization. This leader will own the strategy, architecture, and execution of systems that define, model, and power every product, SKU, and attribute across our global commerce platform—directly impacting discoverability, accuracy, and the customer experience across all channels. Technology is at the center of how Hims & Hers serves millions of customers through innovative, accessible healthcare. As a key leader in our Commerce Platform organization, you will shape the future of how products are created, represented, and brought to market across our ecosystem.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization in Poland across backend, frontend, and QA, focused on Catalog systems and domain expansion.
  • Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap for catalog modernization—leading the transition from legacy monolith patterns to modular, API-driven, contract-first services.
  • Own the architecture for Catalog services, setting clear system boundaries, versioning standards, integration contracts, and data correctness guarantees across Payments, Pricing, and the broader commerce platform.
  • Partner closely with Product, TPM, and cross-functional teams to ensure catalog capabilities support new product categories, regulatory requirements, and global market launches.
  • Establish engineering excellence across reliability, observability, data integrity, latency, and fault isolation—ensuring Catalog remains a trusted, high-confidence system across the company.
  • Model founder-mode leadership: dig into system designs, challenge assumptions, validate sequencing, inspect data models, and remove blockers quickly to drive clarity across teams.
  • Recruit, mentor, and grow senior engineers and managers, building a culture of accountability, ownership, inclusion, and technical rigor.
  • Represent Poland engineering in global planning, bringing deep expertise in catalog architecture, migration strategy, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Bring

  • 12 or more years of software engineering experience, including 3 to 5 years leading managers.
  • A track record of scaling engineering teams and delivering complex, multi team initiatives with predictable outcomes.
  • Strong architectural judgment. Comfortable designing distributed systems, simplifying interfaces, reducing coupling, and driving clarity across teams.
  • Experience building high performance engineering cultures rooted in accountability, speed, and clean execution.
  • A hands on leadership style. You inspect designs, review code, dig into failure modes, and understand the details behind estimates and tradeoffs.
  • Strong product instincts and the ability to pair technical decisions with customer and business context.
  • Clear and direct communication skills and experience leading teams across time zones.
