About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Freelance/Fractional CTO to provide strategic technology leadership for a fast-growing SaaS company. Fractional leadership role (10–40 hours per month, depending on project phase). The CTO will guide the technology vision, architecture, product roadmap, and engineering strategy for SaaS platforms. This role is ideal for a seasoned technology leader who has built or scaled SaaS platforms and can work closely with founders to accelerate product innovation and technical maturity.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technology vision and long-term architecture strategy for cybersecurity SaaS platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering, DevOps, and product development teams.
- Design scalable SaaS architecture for platforms handling enterprise-scale deployments.
- Oversee development of AI-driven security platforms, analytics engines, and automation capabilities.
- Lead architectural decisions for cloud infrastructure (AWS / Azure / multi-cloud) ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Evaluate and implement AI, machine learning, and automation capabilities in cybersecurity platforms.
- Guide engineering teams in building high-performance, secure APIs and microservices architecture.
- Collaborate with leadership on technology strategy, product innovation, and investor presentations.
- Provide technical oversight for product scalability, platform performance, and security hardening.
- Assist in building a technology roadmap aligned with business growth and product expansion plans.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership roles.
- Prior experience working as CTO, VP of Engineering, or Technology Architect for SaaS platforms.
- Strong experience in cloud architecture.
- Expertise in building scalable SaaS platforms and enterprise-grade applications.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity architecture, threat intelligence, and security controls.
- Experience integrating AI / ML capabilities into enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with secure development practices.
- Experience designing systems with high availability, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of identity systems (SSO, OAuth, SAML, Active Directory integration).
- Experience building data analytics and risk scoring engines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide engineering teams.
