Senior Manager, Software Development
Department: Information Technology – Software Development
Reporting to: Senior Director, Operations Technology & Delivery
Approx start date – January 2026
Schedule - Hybrid, onsite 3 days per week (Tues, Wed & Thurs)
Location – in Seattle, WA - Relocation Assistance available
Office-based role with occasional work beyond normal business hours or weekends to support operations and projects.
Eligibility – We are not able to offer any type of sponsorship. No 3rd party candidates
Travel: Very little - Less than 25% (US and International)
Employment Status: Exempt
Direct Reports: Yes (mix of FTE and Contractors - all are remote based on, near and off shore)
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary Range & Benefits: $150,000 - $179,000/yr - Final base salary is directly related to each candidate's qualifications and experience uniquely.

Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Software Development is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and delivery of internally developed, shared business-facing applications used across CLIENT as well as other LOB and Orgs. This role owns the end-to-end portfolio and development roadmap for Shared Business Applications, ensuring alignment with brand priorities, business objectives, and enterprise technology strategy.
With a strong technical foundation and people-first leadership approach, the Senior Manager defines and enforces application architecture, development standards, platforms, frameworks, and languages that enable secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions. The role champions Agile delivery, fosters technical excellence, proactively manages technical debt, and ensures continuous improvement across the full software development lifecycle.
This position leads multiple concurrent programs and teams, drives architectural and design rigor, and builds high-performing development organizations that consistently deliver measurable business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Roadmap Management (25%)
- Own and execute the Shared Business Applications portfolio and development roadmap across 4 LOB
- Align initiatives with brand strategies, product priorities, and enterprise goals.
- Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent programs and projects to ensure timely, high-impact delivery.
- Manage resource allocation, forecasting, and cost planning to support the roadmap.
Technical Strategy & Architecture (25%)
- Define and implement the web and application technology strategy, including architecture, design patterns, platforms, frameworks, and development languages.
- Lead architectural and design reviews to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
- Maintain the long-term health of the codebase through continuous refactoring and proactive management of technical debt.
Agile Delivery & Process Optimization (25%)
- Champion Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban) to drive efficient, iterative delivery.
- Establish and evolve development processes, coding standards, and branching strategies across the SDLC.
- Ensure frictionless development environments through best practices in source control, secure coding, unit testing, and code quality.
Performance, Quality & Reliability (10%)
- Define and enforce metrics for application quality, delivery performance, and team effectiveness.
- Conduct post-mortems, technical reviews, and root-cause analysis to drive accountability and improvement.
- Address performance, scalability, security, accessibility, and reliability concerns.
- Implement automation and quality assurance best practices to ensure consistent product delivery.
- Plan and maintain a 24/7 support model enabling continuous shipboard and shoreside operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (5%)
- Partner with IT, product, business stakeholders, and executive leadership to align development efforts with broader organizational objectives.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable technical plans and requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on technical capabilities, innovation opportunities, and operational feasibility.
Team Leadership & Development (5%)
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing, multi-location development teams (onshore, nearshore, offshore).
- Foster a culture of trust, accountability, empowerment, and ownership.
- Coach and develop individuals across the performance spectrum to elevate team effectiveness.
- Champion continuous improvement, learning, and technical excellence.
Other Responsibilities (5%)

Required Qualifications
Experience
- 8+ years as a technical leader building and supporting internally developed applications.
- 7+ years delivering projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
- 5+ years of web and API development experience.
- 5+ years of experience with .NET and Microsoft Power Platform applications. (Legacy applications in VB.Net will be modernized)
- 5+ years managing large teams and a mix of remote onshore, nearshore, and offshore technical resources.
Technical Expertise
- Hands-on knowledge of IBM Domino (desired), Oracle APEX (desired), SQL, MS Access, Azure, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and API integrations.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, design patterns, and secure development practices.
- Proven ability to deliver secure, stable, and high-quality code on time.
