Our client is a Warsaw-based digital-assets business preparing to transition from VASP status to full authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under MiCA.
Backed by experienced investors, the business is entering a critical phase: securing authorisation, strengthening its technology and control environment, and building for long-term growth in a regulated market.
This is a rare opportunity for a senior technology leader to shape the platform, build a high-performing team, and play a central role in the company’s MiCA authorisation and post-approval growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the company’s technology strategy in line with its MiCA authorisation and growth plans
- Lead the design, development, security, and scalability of the platform across core products and infrastructure
- Build and lead the engineering and technical operations functions, including hiring, structure, and delivery standards
- Ensure the technology environment meets regulatory expectations for governance, resilience, security, control, and operational readiness
- Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and executive leadership on the MiCA CASP authorisation process
- Oversee architecture, vendor selection, outsourcing oversight, change management, incident response, and business continuity planning
- Represent the technology function with regulators, auditors, partners, and key stakeholders where required
- Drive execution across platform stability, product delivery, and long-term technical scalability
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Technology, or senior technology leader in crypto, fintech, or regulated financial services
- Strong experience building, scaling, and managing secure production systems in regulated or high-availability environments
- Experience leading engineering, infrastructure, and security teams through growth and operational complexity
- Good understanding of MiCA/CASP expectations or similar regulatory environments affecting technology, governance, resilience, and outsourcing
- Based in Warsaw, Poland, with the ability to satisfy local substance and governance requirements and maintain regular on-site presence
- Proven ability to lead in high-pressure, fast-changing environments with strong ownership and execution
- Strong cross-functional stakeholder management across product, compliance, risk, operations, and executive leadership
- Fluent English and Polish required; Russian and/or Ukrainian welcomed
Strongly Preferred
- Direct experience in digital-assets businesses such as exchange, custody, brokerage, payments, or trading infrastructure
- Experience with regulated platform environments involving security, transaction monitoring, auditability, and operational resilience
- Experience working with regulators, auditors, or external advisers during licensing, authorisation, or supervisory processes
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, system resilience, and third-party/vendor oversight
