Role Overview
The CTO will be responsible for leading the end-to-end technical development of our product, including hardware architecture, embedded firmware, mobile applications, and backend integration. This role requires a highly experienced and execution-focused technical leader who brings both strategic vision and hands-on capability in building and launching complex, miniaturized hardware-software systems. You will play a critical role in transforming our technical vision into a commercially viable product and building the foundation for long-term innovation, scalability, and operational excellence. Hands on role for the time being.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of our wearable device, including sensors, microcontrollers, power systems, and wireless communication modules.
- Ensure seamless integration between hardware, firmware, mobile applications (iOS/Android), and backend APIs.
- Oversee iterative hardware and software prototyping cycles, testing, and certification processes.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to optimize for DFM (Design for Manufacturing), scalability, cost-efficiency, and quality control.
- Guide ongoing research into emerging technologies (e.g., miniaturized sensors, AI health algorithms, low-power protocols) and lead IP development.
- Align technical development with business goals, funding milestones, and long-term product vision.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering, embedded systems, and product development; preferably in wearables, medtech, or consumer electronics
- Proven track record of delivering complex hardware-software products from concept to market
- Strong understanding of power optimization, BLE communication, mobile application development, and embedded firmware
- Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., CE, FCC), manufacturing scale-up, and supplier management
- Startup or entrepreneurial experience is strongly preferred
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; PhD or research background is a plus
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
