The Microsoft Red Team Intelligence team is looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager for our intelligence analytics team.
The CISO Org is Microsoft’s central cybersecurity authority, accountable for managing and prioritizing cybersecurity risk across the company. The Microsoft Red Team is responsible for finding and demonstrating risk to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. The Microsoft Red Team Intelligence Team is a specialized unit within the broader Red Team that focuses on generating actionable intelligence to support adversarial risk analysis. We provide data and insight to discover, assess, and track potential security and privacy risks exploitable by malicious actors, including Microsoft Red Team breach operators.
As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software engineers and analysts to build tooling that leverages our security graph to discover and quantify security risks. You will help the team model & codify lateral movement paths, use graph and data to uncover new security antipatterns, and communicate findings with stakeholders. You will collaborate with partners across Microsoft to help them strengthen Microsoft’s defenses in our rapidly evolving threat landscape.

Responsibilities
- Foster employee growth and development through thoughtful guidance, effective project execution, and clear performance management. Empower success by leading with care, coaching with intention, and setting a positive example.
- Provide oversight and support to team members to ensure delivery of clean, extensible, and maintainable code. Ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility. Champion best practices and coding standards while offering deep expertise in development and validation strategies.
- Lead identification of potential security vulnerabilities. Build a team with expertise in large scale data analysis and graph traversal to develop capabilities that finds security antipatterns.
- Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to communicate findings, identify remediation opportunities, and improve Microsoft’s security posture.
- Participate in on-call rotations accountable for the availability and reliability of service operations.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security Graph or Red Team experience strongly preferred
- 4+ years people management experience
- OR similar experience managing projects.
- 2+ years of cybersecurity experience

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
