Job Description

Location: Seattle metro area (hybrid; minimum three on‑site days per week)

Compensation: Founder‑level equity (meaningful double‑digit percentage, negotiable) with no cash salary until first institutional funding round. Upon funding, base salary of $200,000 USD plus benefits and option refreshes.

Restaurant SaaS and directory apps are dead. They just don't know it yet.

5 years from now, ChatGPT and other AI assistants will drive 80% - 90% of reservations and orders and restaurants don't have a tool to manage the customer flow and Life Time Value (LTV) from AI assistants.

Synvya is the AI-native layer for restaurants, enabling them to take full control of the customer demand and relationship for the AI channel, from discovery to takeout orders to reservations.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

As the technical co‑founder, you will own every line of code and every technical decision until we can hire behind you. If that sounds thrilling rather than terrifying, keep reading.

WHAT YOU'LL DO (DAY 1 → DAY 1000)

  • Set the technical vision — choose the stack, architecture, data model, and security posture that will scale from a handful of users to millions.
  • Write production code every single week until the team reaches at least ten engineers.
  • Recruit, coach, and retain a world‑class engineering & product team; design org structure and hiring plan.
  • Own DevOps & cloud infrastructure (we currently deploy on AWS).
  • Ship fast & iterate — turn feedback and hypothesis into shipped features, balancing speed with technical debt.
  • Implement and enforce security & compliance best practices from day one (SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA, or whatever our customers require).
  • Represent technology in the boardroom and the sales call — translate deep tech to plain English for investors, customers, and recruits.
  • Define and manage the technical budget once funding lands; evaluate build vs. buy decisions ruthlessly.
  • Stay hands‑on with emerging tech (GenAI/LLMs, serverless, edge computing, data pipelines) to keep our product defensible.
  • Co‑own company strategy alongside the CEO; you’ll have a real seat at the table, not a token title.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Non‑Negotiables

  • 8+ years building and scaling modern software products (preferably SaaS, multi‑tenant cloud).
  • Proven track record as founding engineer, CTO, VP Eng, or lead architect who has taken a product from zero to significant revenue or exit.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, or Rust and comfort across the stack (front‑end to infra).
  • Deep experience with AWS (or GCP/Azure) including CI/CD, container orchestration, monitoring, observability.
  • Strong opinions on code quality, automated testing, and incremental delivery — and the scars to prove why they matter.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, and inspire diverse, high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication – you’ll pitch investors one day and deep‑dive with engineers the next.
  • Risk tolerance: comfortable forgoing salary until funding; previous founder experience a plus.
  • Commitment to open source and freedom tech.

  • Prior exposure to GenAI/LLMs, data‑heavy or ML‑driven products.
  • Seattle network for talent acquisition and investor relations.
  • Open‑source contributions or speaking at conferences/meetups.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (FIRST 12 MONTHS)

  • MVP scaled to serve 10× the current user load with 99.9% uptime.
  • Engineering organization built: first 3‑5 key hires onboarded and shipping.
  • Technical roadmap and budget presented to — and approved by — investors.
  • Security baseline (SOC2 type I) completed and audit scheduled.
  • Company culture of rapid, responsible delivery established.
