Position Summary

The Director of Engineering will lead the engineering and maintenance functions within the organization, driving strategic direction, innovation, renovation, repair and operational excellence. This role involves overseeing engineering and facility maintenance departments, providing leadership to engineering and maintenance teams, ensuring effective processes and methodologies, and aligning initiatives with overall business objectives. The Director will be responsible for fostering a high-performance culture, optimizing engineering and facilities resources, and driving the development of high-quality products and solutions that meet customer and market needs.

Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)

Pay Range: $150,000 - $185,000 per year, plus bonus opportunity

Work Location: Saegertown, PA 16433 - (Onsite)

Travel: Up to 10% Domestic travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s long-term business objectives and vision.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define department goals, set key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop strategic plans that enhance engineering and maintenance effectiveness leading to organizational success.
  • Drive the execution of engineering and maintenance projects, balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day operational demands, while adhering to budget and timelines.
  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers, engineering managers, and technical staff, along with the maintenance manager and maintenance technicians, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, training, and career development programs to ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to meet evolving demands.
  • Coordinate the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of critical systems such as fire sprinkler, alarms, sewers, and utilities.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide feedback and coaching to ensure individual and team success.
  • Implement and continuously improve engineering methods, best practices, and processes to enhance team productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Develop and optimize engineering workflows, tools, and technologies to streamline operations and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Identify areas for process improvements, driving efficiency and consistency across engineering projects and departments.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, safety, and waste.
  • Work closely with product management, R&D, manufacturing, and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration on product development and operational initiatives.
  • Advise and collaborate with senior management to develop new or modified processes, policies, and procedures that align with the company’s overall goals.
  • Act as a technical advisor to the executive team, providing insights and guidance on engineering challenges, opportunities, and industry trends.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering and maintenance projects including machine rebuilds, downtime, construction, repair and renovations, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and that timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of engineering teams and projects, taking corrective actions as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Oversee and manage vendors, contractors, and service providers for construction, maintenance, and compliance projects.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections; report deficiencies and recommend replacement of obsolete or inefficient costs in equipment.
  • Ensure that engineering tools, equipment, and materials are used efficiently and cost-effectively to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Foster a culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring that engineering products meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of documentation for engineering processes, procedures, and standards to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer departmental budgets, evaluate resource requirements, and collaborate with senior management to set financial priorities.
  • Provide strategic input for the development of budgets, ensuring that engineering programs are properly funded and resourced to meet company objectives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required)

Education: Bachelor's

Experience: At least 10 years of experience in engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex engineering projects.
