Software Engineering Manager Database Platform

Company Overview

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineering Manager Database Platform to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. You’ll build and maintain systems that power mission-critical Consumer Technology workflows. You’ll collaborate with product and peers to design clean, scalable solutions. This role values craftsmanship, impact, and ownership.

Location

Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation

$196,000 – $207,000 annually.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the strategy for company's managed database platform
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 engineers fostering a culture of inclusion and ownership
  • Design and operate scalable, multi-tenant database services meeting high performance and availability
  • Automate provisioning, version management, and disaster recovery using infrastructure-as-code
  • Collaborate to modernize legacy systems and facilitate safe API and access migrations
  • Optimize database service costs through size and configuration management
  • Establish best practices for observability, testing, and CI/CD across all database products

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software/infrastructure engineering; 2+ years in managerial roles
  • 5+ years managing production database platforms at scale
  • Experience with AWS or GCP and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
  • Expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of databases
  • Hands-on operational experience of always-on systems with defined SLAs
  • Security experience in regulated environments, including RBAC and audit logging
  • Proven track record of delivering platform roadmaps and cross-functional initiatives
