About the Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional sprint team building web-based products that enable small business owners and independent professionals to run their businesses more efficiently. This role blends people leadership with hands-on technical contribution. You’ll work closely with Product and Design to deliver scalable, intuitive tools—ranging from workflow automation to customer-facing planning experiences—while continuously improving existing systems.

This is a true player-coach role. You’ll be expected to go deep technically, guide architectural decisions, and develop engineers while driving meaningful business outcomes in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

Partner with Product and Design to shape roadmap and execution for high-impact web features
Lead architecture and technical decision-making for scalable, reliable web systems
Improve team velocity while maintaining high standards for code quality and maintainability
Drive operational excellence across performance, reliability, cost, and developer experience
Mentor and grow engineers through feedback, coaching, and career development
Contribute hands-on through code reviews, debugging, and feature development
Support hiring and team growth, helping build a strong and collaborative engineering culture

Qualifications:

4+ years of experience in engineering management roles
8+ years of experience building and scaling web-based systems
Strong technical judgment and experience owning architecture and technical standards
Proven ability to mentor engineers and build high-performing, engaged teams
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams
Comfort operating in startup or growth-stage environments with ambiguity and pace
First-principles thinker with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and delivery

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys building teams, shaping systems, and delivering polished web products that have clear customer impact.
