Position Overview
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, functionality, and capital planning of a premier hospitality campus. This role ensures all facilities, grounds infrastructure, mechanical systems, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, supporting an exceptional member and guest experience. The Director of Engineering is a strategic leader, hands-on problem solver, and collaborative partner to all departments.
Salary Range- $80,000-$90,000 per year
Bonus- $10K based on subjective and objective criteria
Health, Dental and Vision- 100% paid by the company
Vacation-2 weeks which accrues on day 1 Vacation can be taken from November 1-April 1
5 paid holidays- Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Years Day
Work Week- 40-55 hour per week
Director Of Engineering Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations across the clubhouse, dining venues, fitness areas, aquatics, racquet facilities, lodging (if applicable), and grounds infrastructure.
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment, pools, irrigation, and life-safety systems.
- Lead capital improvement planning, long-range facility strategy, and reserve studies in collaboration with the General Manager and Board.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost controls while maintaining superior facility standards.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local building codes, safety regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental requirements.
- Oversee vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage third-party service providers.
- Implement and monitor emergency preparedness plans and risk management protocols.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate engineering team members, fostering accountability and service excellence.
- Partner with department heads to coordinate renovations, special events, and daily operational needs with minimal disruption to members.
Director Of Engineering Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of progressive facilities leadership experience in hospitality, resort, club, or luxury residential environments.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance programs, and capital project management.
- Proven financial acumen with experience managing budgets and large-scale projects.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and maintain a calm, solution-oriented approach.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CFM, SMA, HVAC licensing) preferred.
