About The Role
Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Section Leader to join the Patriot Software Team within the Air and Missile Defense Software Department. This role is critical in overseeing and guiding software personnel to ensure the successful execution of program objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background combined with leadership skills to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment. The position requires a dedicated onsite presence at the Tewksbury, Massachusetts location, where collaboration and direct engagement with team members and stakeholders are essential. As a Section Leader, you will be responsible for technical oversight, personnel development, performance management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions aligned with program requirements. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to national defense systems and work on complex, impactful projects that enhance the safety and security of the nation.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will typically hold a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) disciplines and possess at least 10 years of relevant experience in the software or defense industry. A minimum of two years of experience in functional management or leading medium to large teams is required. Candidates should have proven project management skills and the ability to oversee multiple tasks concurrently. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an interim secret U.S. security clearance prior to employment. An active security clearance is preferred but not mandatory at the outset. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for managing performance, mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Experience with software development techniques, embedded or real-time systems, and knowledge of programming languages such as C and Ada will be highly advantageous.
