About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Software Engineering Manager in Swansea, IL or Maryland Heights, MO to lead our technology strategy and oversee both software development and information technology (IT) services. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the technological direction of our organization, ensuring our solutions meet industry standards, government regulations, and best practices in IT management. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation, managing technical teams, and supporting our mission-critical projects, including defense logistics, mission planning software, and advanced military applications.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team in delivering exceptional software products and services that support U.S. and foreign military defense operations. Our legacy includes developing market-leading maintenance, repair, and overhaul software solutions, advancing the Department of Defense's logistics command and control applications, and supporting next-generation mission planning across multiple platforms such as the F-22, F-15, F-18, MQ-25, and Tomahawk Cruise Missile. The role involves close collaboration with government and commercial clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure our technological capabilities align with strategic objectives and operational requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance and demonstrate extensive leadership experience in software development, ideally exceeding 10 years. Candidates should have a proven track record working directly with the Defense Community, government agencies, and DoD personnel, along with experience managing budgets for at least five years. Familiarity with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as Agile and DevOps is essential, as well as a strong understanding of government regulations and cybersecurity standards. Excellent communication skills, business acumen, and analytical problem-solving capabilities are mandatory. Prior experience in IT operations management within government contracting environments and familiarity with government compliance standards will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the technology vision and strategy for Tapestry, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and government requirements.
- Drive innovation in software development practices, methodologies, and technologies to enhance product offerings and improve service delivery.
- Lead the technical requirements gathering and resource allocation in support of capture activities, including proposal development and solution design.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, ensuring it supports the software development lifecycle and operational needs.
- Establish and enforce cybersecurity policies and practices to protect sensitive government data and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, IT professionals, and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Collaborate with government and commercial clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, vendor management, and support for development initiatives and IT operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Identify potential risks related to technology initiatives and develop mitigation strategies to address them effectively.
- Manage employee development programs and provide growth opportunities for team members and mid-level managers.

Salary is commensurate with experience and market conditions, with a summary base pay range of $195,000 to $215,000. We strive to create a supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and recognizes individual contributions.
