About The Role
The Boeing Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Flight Simulation Labs Software team based in Berkeley, Missouri. This strategic role involves overseeing the development and implementation of modeling, simulation, and testing frameworks critical to the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for guiding a talented group of engineers in delivering innovative software solutions that support the simulation and testing of advanced military aircraft systems, including the F/A-18 platform.
The successful candidate will manage a team focused on creating tools and automated testing frameworks that enable realistic, tactically representative assessments of mission systems. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality software products. As a business owner on the Flight Simulation Labs F/A-18 Agile Release Train (ART), you will play a pivotal role in aligning software strategies with organizational goals and driving continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and motivate technical teams. A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, data science, or related fields from an accredited institution is required. Preferred qualifications include experience working on real-time modeling and simulation or mission systems products, familiarity with Earned Value Management, and knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe). Prior experience leading software teams and working within an agile development environment will be highly advantageous. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance are mandatory requirements for this role.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a team of engineers and first-level managers performing software engineering activities, ensuring project milestones and quality standards are met.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve departmental plans, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational goals and technical strategies.
- Secure resources, manage relationships with suppliers, and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity and product quality.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of project objectives and expectations.
- Provide technical oversight, guidance, and approval for approaches, products, and processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead talent development efforts, motivate team members, and foster a collaborative, innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and growth.
