About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MQ-25 System Software Manager to join our MQ-25 Program team in Hazelwood, MO. This leadership role involves managing the development and integration of mission-critical software for the MQ-25 unmanned aircraft system, which is designed to provide advanced refueling capabilities for the U.S. Navy. The successful candidate will oversee the MQ-25 Mission Management System Computer (MMSC) Operational Flight Program (OFP) Software team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, real-time embedded software solutions that meet rigorous safety and performance standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver innovative solutions that enhance national defense capabilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software engineering management with proven leadership skills. Candidates should have at least three years of experience managing or leading software development teams, along with a solid understanding of project management principles. Experience with Agile development methodologies, real-time embedded systems, and large-scale software systems is highly desirable. Proficiency in C++ programming and experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) customers or participating in Program Increment (PI) planning are preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required; advanced degrees or certifications in project management or software development are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the software engineering team throughout the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project and process plans, including policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
  • Participate actively in program activities such as Program Increment (PI) Planning, risk management, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reviews.
  • Oversee resource acquisition, technical approach validation, and adherence to organizational standards and strategies.
  • Drive process improvements, foster a collaborative team environment, and motivate team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight, review software designs, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support employee development initiatives, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with system/subsystem engineers and external software vendors to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
