Introduction to Team

We create and deliver an aligned, dedicated marketing strategy to fuel each Expedia Group brand's success. Our Bidding team, within the Search Marketing function, is looking for an established people leader to lead a team of engineers. This Senior Manager should be business- and product-minded, able to contribute to strategy or dive into the details, and most importantly, someone who empowers their people and teams to succeed. The role involves building a unified Bidding Platform to streamline campaign management, machine learning science, and operations work, enabling enhanced bidding capabilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Build a unified Bidding Platform to streamline SEM campaign management and onboard existing and new use cases across different marketing channels.
  • Focus on scientific rigor and drive A/B testing excellence to incrementally deliver value.
  • Lead and actively contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, analysis, development, and deployment efforts for multiple enterprise application projects addressing complex business problems.
  • Be hands-on while guiding junior developers in building data pipelines and orchestrating bidding strategy and delivery.
  • Work with technologies such as Kotlin, Python, Go, Spring, Node.js, React, GraphQL, Docker, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, DataDog, Splunk, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, and AWS Cloud.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional, post-college software development experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience with a passion for growing individual careers and enabling high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on technologist and leader experienced in running complex, multi-quarter initiatives and managing a broad portfolio of applications and services.
  • Strong technical acumen and commitment to engineering quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to switch contexts seamlessly—from strategic to detailed, technical to business, inter-team to cross-organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and highly effective collaboration, with the ability to support ideas with data where applicable.
