Director of Engineering & Managed Services
Emagine IT has an immediate need for a Director of Engineering & Managed Services to join our team in support of our commercial contracts.
Summary/Objective
The Director of Engineering & Managed Services is responsible for leading the organization’s engineering services and managed services practices, driving strategic growth, and delivering secure, scalable, and compliant technology solutions. This role oversees the design, implementation, and operation of customer environments while building high-performing teams and developing innovative service offerings that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership in the development and growth of the Engineering Services and Managed Services practices.
- Design and execute business strategies to build a scalable engineering services portfolio, including cloud, infrastructure, and security solutions.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align engineering and managed services initiatives with organizational goals and revenue targets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to drive satisfaction, retention, and recurring revenue (MRR).
- Lead architectural design and implementation of compliant infrastructure solutions, including frameworks such as CMMC and FedRAMP.
- Oversee the development of landing zone accelerators to rapidly deploy secure, compliant environments for customers.
- Direct the creation and operation of managed services offerings, including 24/7 SOC capabilities, SIEM monitoring, and infrastructure support.
- Ensure successful delivery of engineering and managed services projects, maintaining accountability for scope, timelines, budgets, and quality.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and service metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance service offerings, improve efficiency, and maintain competitive advantage.
- Support customer audits and compliance activities by providing technical expertise and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership, clients, and technical teams through regular reporting and presentations.
- Develop Trust Center for automated continuous monitoring of FedRAMP 20x and CMMC environments.
- Develop Azure infrastructure and scale AuditSync to a fully production product.
- Administer and maintain EIT Azure environments (ex. pentesting and lab environment).
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages engineering and managed services teams, including infrastructure engineers, security engineers, and analysts. Responsibilities include hiring, performance management, mentoring, and professional development of staff.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and may include remote or hybrid work arrangements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and collaboration tools.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet business and customer needs.
Travel
Travel is primarily local; however, occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be required to support client engagements and business development activities.
Minimum Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in engineering services, managed services, or IT leadership roles.
- Proven experience building and scaling engineering or managed services practices.
- Strong background in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), infrastructure architecture, and cybersecurity.
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, CMMC, or similar regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated success in developing customer relationships and driving recurring revenue models.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
