TITLE: Director, Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

CPG Beyond the Cloud (CPG) is seeking a Director of Engineering. The Director of Engineering leads and manages all aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering for CPG’s projects and operations. This position oversees the design, implementation, and commissioning of complex building systems, ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations, and provides construction oversight. Responsibilities include management of low voltage systems and integration of shared services to deliver efficient, safe, and high-quality solutions for clients. The Director of Engineering collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate all mechanical and electrical engineering activities for new construction, renovations, and operational projects.
  • Lead the design, specification, and review of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power distribution, lighting, and building automation systems.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and functional testing of mechanical and electrical systems to ensure performance and compliance with project requirements.
  • Supervise the integration and management of low voltage systems, including security, access control, telecommunications, and data networks.
  • Provide construction oversight to ensure engineering standards, quality, and safety are maintained throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate shared services across engineering disciplines, optimizing resource allocation and promoting cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and enforce engineering policies, procedures, and best practices in accordance with codes, standards, and sustainability goals.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and project documentation for mechanical and electrical engineering work.
  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering professional development and high performance.
  • Engage with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in commissioning, construction oversight, and management of low voltage systems.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, engineering standards, and sustainability practices (e.g., LEED).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical calculation programs (e.g., Trace 700, SKM PowerTools).
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Certificates and Licenses

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; dual licensure preferred.
  • LEED Accredited Professional or equivalent sustainability certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and low voltage specialists. Responsible for team selection, training, performance evaluation, and professional development. Collaborates with project managers and other department leaders to ensure effective resource utilization and project delivery.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in office and construction site environments.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and use of hands for inspection and supervision activities.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and meetings as required.
