Job Summary

The Director of Engineering leads and oversees the organization’s engineering function, managing teams, setting technical strategy, and ensuring successful project execution. Key responsibilities include driving productivity improvements across all sites, hiring and developing engineering talent, managing departmental budgets, defining long-term technical direction, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices. This role requires extensive experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep technical background.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering leaders
  • Oversee project execution and management to ensure they deliver the Success Criteria and are completed on time
  • Develop long-term technical road map for process and productivity improvements
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, testing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise for Costing purposes
  • Meet and work with customers to solve problems and develop mutual cost savings projects
  • Improve efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management and other staff regarding capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Provide engineering expertise by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain product and Company reputation by complying with governmental regulations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in groups/societies.
  • Perform work onsite.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or advanced Degree in Engineering.
  • 7 – 10 years of Engineering management experience in a manufacturing facility.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical background and knowledge of modern engineering and manufacturing technologies
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading major single-site projects or multiple-site engineering projects
  • Noted experience implementing change across multiple sites
  • Must be able to understand blueprints and process specifications.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on-site.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English competently.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of ERPs – AS400 preferred
  • Experience in Beauty Care process manufacturing
  • Microsoft Project management software proficient
  • Wide and current knowledge of process and production equipment vendors for liquid filling

Travel & Working Conditions

  • Primarily Office environment – climate-controlled
  • Regular visits to the manufacturing and warehouse environments – dust, noise, temperature extremes.
  • 40% annual travel expectations with this position, driven by project execution.
