Part-Time CTO - Remote (contract or perm)
Our Client
Provides independent, open-access medical news and education to healthcare professionals worldwide via their custom-built HCP platform.
The Role
The company is undertaking a major digital transformation, including a rebuild of their HCP site. They’re looking for an experienced Part-Time CTO to lead this journey — translating vision into delivery and owning the technical roadmap. You’ll act as technical lead and architect, working closely with leadership and development partners in a modern, AI-forward environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical strategy and digital roadmap
- Lead the greenfield rebuild of our journal platforms
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance architecture
- Make key decisions across CMS, backend, frontend, and cloud
- Lead internal and external development teams
- Identify and implement AI-driven opportunities (search, chat, personalisation, automation)
- Own AWS infrastructure, security, and cost management
Requirements
Must have:
- Experience architecting modern web platforms
- Node.js and AWS experience
- Strong Linux and containerisation (Docker) knowledge
Nice to have:
- PHP / WordPress, Python
- APIs, microservices, headless CMS
- Practical experience implementing AI / LLM-based features
Profile
- Senior engineering leader (CTO, VP Eng, Principal Engineer, Tech Lead)
- Proven experience building platforms from scratch
- Strong product and commercial mindset
- Comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders
