CMT is seeking a collaborative, product-oriented Director of Engineering to lead our Cloud Infrastructure team. This team builds and evolves CMT’s foundational platform services, delivering a robust, secure, and scalable foundation that powers all of our telematics products. As Director, you’ll partner closely with cross-functional engineering and product leaders across the company to define and drive the team's technical roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide team leadership to the Engineering function. This includes providing support on tactical team items and providing guidance to grow team members within their own careers
  • Identify, recruit and maintain a top talent team, managing 2+ direct reports
  • Implement and refine the processes and structure to achieve measurable operational excellence and output
  • Identify and mentor new and existing team members and assists to help scale the company
  • Help advance the personal development, experience and knowledge of your team members
  • Lead the development, release, and maintenance of TrueMotion backend platform
  • Manage team output, velocity to help forecast and plan upcoming work against capacity
  • Implement team structure, that best fits company priorities and culture
  • Inspire a culture that is fun to work in
  • Communicate and collaborate with other teams, managers, contractors, and customers
  • Be the voice and heart of your team
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering
  • 9+ years of relevant working experience in engineering
  • 5+ years of management responsibility
  • Excellent coding skills history in at least one programming language
  • Experience with building, running, and operating a highly scalable SaaS platform
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  • Team player and experienced at managing and running SCRUM teams
  • Working in international environment, communicating with teams overseas

Nice to Haves:

  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and distributed systems
  • Track record of improving developer productivity through CI/CD, observability, or internal developer platform initiatives
  • Experience managing technical transitions such as monolith-to-microservices, cloud migration, or major data store rearchitecture
  • Exposure to real-time data processing, streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark), or telemetry data pipelines
  • Deep understanding of security, compliance, and privacy best practices for enterprise or regulated environments

Base Salary Range

  • The base salary range for this position is: 216,300 to 270,400. This range is specifically for Cambridge, MA
