Role Overview
We are seeking an innovation-driven Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead Bybit’s global technology vision and execution.
The CTO will be a technology leader with deep fintech or financial services experience, capable of scaling world-class trading systems while building the technological foundation for the next generation of digital financial services.
As Bybit evolves beyond a traditional exchange into a one-stop global financial platform, the CTO will architect and scale the infrastructure supporting an integrated ecosystem across trading, payments, custody, wealth products, and financial services.
This role goes beyond maintaining systems — it is about shaping the future of global digital finance through advanced technology while driving the strategic adoption of AI across products, trading infrastructure, and company operations to enhance platform intelligence, automation, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
- Define and drive Bybit’s global technology vision and multi-year roadmap, aligning technology strategy with business goals and global regulatory requirements.
- Lead the evolution of Bybit from a digital asset exchange into a comprehensive financial platform, integrating trading, payments, custody, and wealth services.
- Architect scalable platform infrastructure capable of supporting multiple financial products, user segments, and international regulatory environments.
- Identify emerging technology trends and position Bybit at the forefront of innovation in digital finance.
AI Transformation & Intelligent Systems
- Lead company-wide AI adoption, embedding artificial intelligence into products, infrastructure, and internal operations.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI across trading analytics, market intelligence, risk management, fraud detection, and operational automation.
- Build internal AI capabilities including data platforms, machine learning infrastructure, and intelligent decision-support systems.
- Partner with product, trading, and business teams to develop AI-driven features that enhance platform competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Innovation & Product Development
- Oversee the design and delivery of ultra-low-latency trading platforms, advanced derivatives products, and blockchain-enabled financial services.
- Incubate and launch new technologies across trading, payments, digital asset custody, and financial infrastructure services.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence and research-driven innovation across the technology organization.
Infrastructure & Security
- Architect scalable, resilient, and high-performance systems capable of supporting billions in daily trading volume.
- Ensure institutional-grade security architecture protecting user assets, trading infrastructure, and sensitive data.
- Lead investments in redundancy, disaster recovery, and global infrastructure expansion.
Leadership & Team Building
- Build, lead, and inspire a global engineering and technology organization.
- Develop strong leadership pipelines and cultivate high-performing technical teams.
- Promote a culture of innovation, speed, accountability, and engineering excellence.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure technology operations comply with global regulatory, AML, and data privacy requirements.
- Partner closely with executive leadership and the Board to translate technology strategy into business impact.
- Represent Bybit externally in industry events, partnerships, and strategic technology discussions.
Candidate Profile
Proven Technology Leader
- 10+ years of technology leadership experience, including at least 5+ years as CTO, Head of Engineering, or equivalent senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated track record building and scaling large technology organizations.
Fintech / Crypto Expertise
- Experience building large-scale technology platforms within global fintech companies, financial institutions, trading venues, or digital asset exchanges.
- Experience within leading crypto exchanges or trading platforms is strongly preferred.
Blockchain-Native Understanding
- Strong understanding of blockchain protocols, crypto trading infrastructure, custody architecture, and decentralized finance ecosystems.
AI & Data-Driven Innovation
- Demonstrated experience driving AI or machine learning adoption within large-scale technology platforms.
- Understanding of how AI can enhance trading analytics, platform intelligence, automation, and operational efficiency.
Technical Excellence
- Deep understanding of high-performance trading systems, distributed architecture, cybersecurity, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Experience building mission-critical systems requiring high reliability and ultra-low latency.
Global Leadership
- Proven ability to lead multi-region engineering organizations within fast-scaling technology environments.
Entrepreneurship & Problem Solving
- Strong ownership mindset with an ability to innovate and solve complex technology challenges.
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Mandarin preferred.
