Software Development Manager, Platform & DevOps

About the Role
We’re building the next generation of cloud infrastructure that powers scalable, reliable, and high-impact products. As a Software Development Manager, Platform & DevOps, you’ll lead a team at the intersection of application delivery and platform engineering.
This role is unique in its balance. You’ll spend part of your time owning the delivery of business-critical applications, and part of your time building the internal platforms, CI/CD systems, and paved paths that enable engineering teams to move faster with confidence.
You’ll be a hands-on leader who shapes technical direction, develops talent, and partners across engineering, product, design, and security to deliver meaningful outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Grow a High-Impact Team
- Build, mentor, and support a high-performing team of platform and DevOps engineers
- Create an environment of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement
- Guide career growth through coaching, feedback, and clear development paths
Own Delivery & Outcomes
- Lead delivery for one or more applications from planning through release
- Drive roadmaps, manage dependencies, and ensure high-quality execution
- Establish strong operational practices including SLOs, SLIs, and incident response
- Champion reliability through postmortems, error budgets, and continuous improvement
Build Platforms that Scale Teams
- Design and evolve CI/CD systems and GitOps workflows
- Create “paved roads” with templates, tooling, and guardrails that simplify development
- Improve developer experience and reduce time to deploy
Drive Technical Excellence
- Lead architecture and design discussions, review code, and unblock teams
- Operate and improve Kubernetes environments across regions and availability zones
- Implement observability across logs, metrics, and traces for full system visibility
Collaborate Across the Organization
- Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to align on priorities and delivery
- Work closely with Security and Compliance to embed best practices by default
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders on progress, risks, and decisions
What You Bring
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Proven ownership of delivering production applications with reliability and scale
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems and infrastructure as code
- Ability to read, review, and contribute to code when needed
- Understanding of reliability practices like SLOs, monitoring, and incident management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling
- Familiarity with service meshes, observability tools, or event-driven systems
- Exposure to multi-region architectures or resilience engineering
- Understanding of security, compliance, or cost optimization practices

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $140,000 and $205,700. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
