Apple Services Engineering (ASE) is looking for an Engineering Manager to build and lead a high-caliber engineering team in the Pricing, Subscriptions & Infrastructure organization. You will be a key leader in the effort to modernize a platform that powers pricing and subscriptions across every Apple service — iCloud, App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and more — partnering with peer managers and engineering leaders to shape a modern, AI-ready platform that scales for the next decade of Apple's growth.

Our systems facilitate billions of transactions across 175+ markets. The decisions your team makes will directly shape how hundreds of millions of customers discover, subscribe to, and pay for Apple's services worldwide. If you're a builder who sees AI as a force multiplier and wants to shape the future of Apple's pricing platform, this role is for you.

Description

The ASE Pricing team manages the pricing lifecycle for millions of content items across Apple's global catalog. Our platform touches every storefront transaction — from setting a price point in a new market to calculating contingent discounts for subscription bundles.

As an Engineering Manager, you will drive the modernization of key areas of this platform. You will lead a team of senior engineers and take ownership within a large, established JVM codebase (Java and Scala), charting the path from where it is today to where it needs to be: modular, well-tested, instrumented, and ready for AI-assisted workflows. You will partner closely with peer managers and engineering leaders across Pricing, Subscriptions, and Infrastructure, as well as with Product, Finance, and Commerce teams who depend on these systems.

This role combines deep technical leadership with people leadership. You'll write architecture docs and review pull requests. You'll also run 1:1s, advocate for your team, and build a culture where senior engineers do their best work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering management.
  • Deep expertise in JVM technologies (Java and/or Scala), RESTful services, relational databases, and distributed systems.
  • Track record of modernizing large-scale, high-availability systems.
  • Strong system design skills with the ability to operate at both architecture and implementation level.
  • Proven ability to attract, hire, and develop strong engineering talent.
  • Excellent communication skills across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment and ownership, especially in ambiguous environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping AI/ML-powered features or integrating AI/ML into production systems.
  • Experience with pricing systems, subscription platforms, or commerce/fintech domains.
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Business, or other non-engineering organizations on data-driven decision-making.
